Well, I've been asked by a few people that I should be updating this more often, although to be honest, I haven't really been doing all that much to write about.  Time around here doesn't seem to mean much, it just passes, lazily and quietly.  Most days are filled with lounging around, reading books, sitting in the sun, walking down on the beach, swimming in the ocean, playing table tennis or darts, and sitting around the campfire at night.  Oh yeah, and drinking.  I've discovered the traveller's drink of choice - $10 for a 4 litre box of wine.  It's affectionally referred to as "goon".  It tastes exactly what you'd expect for that price - pretty bad (although I've had worse wines that cost a lot more).  So far I haven't bought any myself, but I'm sure as money becomes more tight, I'll quickly develop a taste for it.

A few things of note - I'm doing some work for the hostel, helping out with the dinner cooking when needed, and also working on getting a website up and running for them (so much for not doing any computer work!)  In any case, I'm getting free breakfast and dinner, and free rent while I'm here, so for the hour or two of work I do each day doesn't really seem like a big price to pay.  As a result of this, I'm pretty sure I'll be staying where I am for a couple weeks longer, maybe more (or maybe less, if I get too bored here).  I'm meeting plenty of new people, some backpackers staying only for a night or two, some staying for a week or more.  There are a large number currently that will be doing blueberry picking, starting in the next week or two, so they'll be around for at least a month.

Last week I went out to try some surfing.  There's a cove about 5 minutes south of here that's supposed to be really good for beginners, as there's an outcropping of flat rocks that make it easy to get past where the waves are breaking.  Unfortunately, the conditions that day were perfect for seasoned surfers (large waves, breaking well past the point the rocks normally go) and therefore absolutely terrible for anyone's first time out.  I spent a good hour or so just fighting with the waves on a long board, but had a good time of it.  The waves at the beach right behind the hostel haven't been all that good to go out, but I plan to give it another go sometime "soon".

Today I went hangliding off the point.  I even brought my camera, figuring it'd be a good chance to get some photos of the surrounds, and finally get them uploaded so you can all see where it is that I've managed to get myself stuck at .  I did take a few pictures from the point, as well as some of the other backpackers who went gliding, but once I was in the air, I didn't even touch my camera - I was just enjoying the flight too much, and didn't want to miss any of it by trying to look at things through the viewfinder.  One of the other staff here took a short video of my landing on his camera, so I'll try to have that uploaded in the next few days, once we get it onto a computer and webified.

Just a side note - I fixed the blog so that photos will show as postings when I upload them - check out the Lennox Head gallery, there's just one photo there now, but there will be more soon.  Also, there will be photos from Sydney up in the next few days as well.

Hopefully this will tide some of you over until I make another post, and I'll do my best to make sure it's not another week and a half for that.  Tuesday night is a full moon party, which I think they're doing a Hawaiian theme for, so that should have some good stories come out of it.
